Your data is the moat. Build the model only you can.
The Problem

Renting a model is right until the capability becomes your core.

Most AI work should run on a model you rent or adapt. It is the fastest path and it is enough for the bulk of what any company does. But a rented model is a service someone else controls, trained on data anyone can buy, and it carries no advantage that is yours alone.

When a capability is central to how you compete, and your data is a moat, a different path opens. Build a small model of your own. Your data is the moat, synthetic data is the multiplier, and the finished model is an asset no competitor can copy. This briefing is a working blueprint for that build, and for knowing when it is worth it.

Your data, multiplied by synthetic data, builds a model you own.
The Briefing

Fifteen slides. Here is what they answer.

01When should you use, adapt, or build a model?
02What actually goes inside building a small language model?
03Why is your data the moat, and synthetic data the multiplier?
04What does it take, in team, budget, and time?
05When should you not build at all?

The answers are in the presentation above. Play the briefing, about six minutes.
