Your AI Strategy Blueprint

This capstone turns everything you have learned into a working document: your organization's AI strategy blueprint. Complete the five parts below, then download or print the result. There are no right answers, only honest ones.

Work through each section as if you were preparing a briefing for your board. Be specific. Use real numbers where you have them, and note where you need to collect better data. The goal is a draft document you can refine with your team, not a polished presentation.

Part 1

AI Readiness Audit

Rate your organization across the five readiness dimensions from Module 6: Data, Talent, Infrastructure, Governance, and Culture. For each, describe the current state in one sentence, identify the key gap, and name who owns closing that gap. Be honest: overestimating readiness is the most common cause of roadmap failure.

Part 2

Use Case Prioritization

List three to five AI use cases your organization could pursue. For each, estimate: current cost or time of the process, potential value if AI reduces it, data readiness for this use case, and blast radius if something goes wrong. Then identify which one use case you would select for the Phase 2 pilot and why.

Part 3

Buy, Build, or Partner Analysis

Apply the Module 4 decision matrix to your selected pilot use case. Rate strategic importance (1-5) and internal build capability (1-5). State your recommendation (Buy, Partner, or Build). If Buy or Partner: identify two to three vendors or partners to evaluate and the five criteria from Module 4 you will require written answers on. If Build: describe the engineering team required and the realistic timeline to first deployment.

Part 4

Governance Checklist

Answer the six board-level governance questions from Module 3 for your selected pilot use case. Then identify any EU AI Act or sector-specific regulatory obligations that apply. For each governance gap you find, note who should own closing it and by when.

Part 5

18-Month Draft Roadmap

Draft the key deliverables for each of the three phases from Module 6, calibrated to your specific organization. Phase 1 (0-3 months): foundation and governance. Phase 2 (4-9 months): pilot and measurement. Phase 3 (10-18 months): scale and expansion. For each phase, identify the two or three deliverables that matter most, who owns them, and what done looks like.
